Happy New Year Everyone!

I can't believe 2010 is gone! That year just flew by! 2010 was probably the fastest year that I've ever experienced! Lets just put it this way. I'm starting 2011 with a new baby girl! That's right! She'll be three months on January 6th. This time last year she was just a twinkle in my eye :). I feel truly blessed to have been granted the gift of parenthood. I didn't believe it until it actually happened, but it really does change your life, and how you see things in the world. Life has so much more meaning. I suppose one may not ever know what I'm talking about until it actually happens. I could get more into that but we'll have to save that for another day.

2011 is a New Year with sooo much ahead! This year is going to be the most "positive, productive, dream achieving year ever!" Why you ask? Well let me tell you! Independent Human Study Shows Mannatech's Ambrotose AO® Product to be Beneficial Antioxidant Supplement. Mannatech announced the results of an independent human clinical study that demonstrated intake of its proprietary Ambrotose AO® capsules raised antioxidant protection in serum oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) in healthy adults, further validating a previous human study.

The effect on serum ORAC, a method of measuring antioxidant capacities, was very similar between the two studies. The 2010 five-week study by Dr. Stephen P. The United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division, has entered a Final Judgment and Permanent Injunction against Boston Mountain Laboratories, Inc., which bans Boston Mountain Laboratories from manufacturing or selling BML Glyconutrient Formula, Glyco-8, Glycoessentials, Glyco-Essence, Glyconutrients, MG-3, and MG-3c for the duration of Mannatech’s U.S. Patents 6,929,807; 7,157,431; 7,196,064; 7,199,104; and 7,202,220.

Judge Jeff Kaplan of the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Texas order Glycoproducts to pay $773,347 in legal fees for the successful prosecution of its infringement claims for Mannatech’s Ambrotose products.

In July of 2008 a judge handed down a ruling that Glycobiotics infringed on two of Mannatech’s patents concerning Mannatech’s Ambrotose products. The case had been ongoing for almost 2 years, originally filed in March of 2006. As part of the ruling, Glycobiotics had to immediately stop producing and selling the products specified in the case as well as deliver said products to Mannatech directly for destruction.

Biochemists Receive $1.2 Million Grant

The grant is part of the NIH program for Exceptional, Unconventional Research Enabling Knowledge Acceleration (EUREKA) that enables researchers to take on high-risk projects.

Eat your daily fruits and veggies, don't smoke, stay active, and drink in moderation. Hmmm, sounds like a radical life changing regimen. Actually its not folks! People can add as much as 14 years to their lives if they adopt the above four principles for a healthy lifestyle.

Those who practice just four healthy habits/behaviors may live 14 years longer than those who don't, according to a report from Cambridge University.

More than 20,000 participants between the ages of 45 and 79 years were followed for an average of 11 years. Questionnaires awarded one point for not smoking, being physically active, consuming alcohol in moderation, and having a plasma vitamin C level consistent with eating five servings of vegetables or fruit per day.

Those who scored no points on the questionnaires were four times more likely to die than those who scored four points, and those with a score of two were twice as likely to die. Participants whose score was zero had the same risk of dying as subjects who were 14 years older who had practiced all four healthy behaviors.

The researchers said: “These results may provide further support for the idea that even small differences in lifestyle may make a big difference to health in the population and encourage behaviour change.”

"Americans may be drinking less alcohol, on average, than in the past -- and they're cutting back on beer and sipping more wine as they get older."

So says a story from CBS News, courtesy of WebMD. It's based on a recent study in the American Journal of Medicine.

That finding comes from 50 years of drinking data reported by 8,600 white adults in Framingham, Mass., the home of a long-term health study.

Participants, born from 1900 to 1959, joined the study when they were at least 28 years old. Over the decades, they repeatedly answered questions about their lifestyle and health, including their alcohol use.

Men and women in each generation drank less as they got older. And each generation drank less than previous generations, with heavier drinking giving way to moderate drinking.

Magistrate Judge Jeff Kaplan in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division, issued a Memorandum Opinion finding that Glycoproducts International Inc., (Glycobiotics) infringed both Mannatech patents at issue in the case (U.S. Patent No.6,929,807 and U.S. Patent No. 7,157,431). This ruling resolves all issues in this case with Mannatech winning on all patent and trademark infringement claims brought against Glycobiotics.

14 Olympians taking Glyconutritional Supplements

Mannatech Inc., the global leader in glyconutritional supplements and skin care products, has tapped retail industry veteran Wayne L. Badovinus as chief executive officer and president.

Beginning June 16, Badovinus will replace Terry Persinger, who was serving as interim CEO. Mannatech founder and Chairman Sam Caster resigned as CEO in August 2007.

Persinger will stay on Mannatech as an employee reporting to the board on projects assigned over the next three years, the Coppell-based company said.

Badovinus has 43 years of experience in consumer brands and has held senior management positions with a number of retail and catalog companies, according to Mannatech. He was president and CEO of Eddie Bauer from 1987 to 1992 and Acme Boot Co. from 1994 to 1997. He also was CEO of furniture retailer Design Within Reach from 2000 to 2005, growing it to a $150 million company in five years and overseeing the company's public stock offering in June 2004. In addition, Badovinus was chief operating officer for Williams-Sonoma in 1986 and 1987. Most recently, Badovinus was senior operating partner for JH Partners, a private equity firm.

Jury Validates Key Mannatech Technology Patents Involving Its Ambrotose (R) Glyconutrients Products

Glycoproducts International Inc., found to have committed patent and trademark infringement

A federal court jury in the Northern District of Texas found that Glycoproducts International Inc. had committed infringement of Mannatech's patent and trademark relating to Ambrotose(R).

The jury found Glycoproducts International Inc. had committed patent infringement on Mannatech's U.S. Patent No. 7,157,431. The jury found that this infringement was willful, and also ruled in favor of Mannatech on all patent validity issues presented to the jury. In addition, the jury ruled in favor of Mannatech relative to trademark infringement claims made in the case. Based on these rulings, Mannatech will also be pursuing an immediate injunction prohibiting Glycoproducts International Inc. from further engaging in the production, distribution and sale of its Glycomannan product, as well as the reimbursement of Mannatech's legal fees on this matter.

Mannatech (MTEX): Still making money because people are still stupid

When the XFL failed after just one season, I breathed a sigh of relief: Apparently it really was possible to lose money by assuming that the American public is stupid.

Well Texas-based multi-level marketer Mannatech (NASDAQ: MTEX) has proven that the assumption of stupidity is alive and well as a means of making money -- or at least keeping your stock price from collapsing even more than it already has.

On Tuesday afternoon, founder Sam Caster resigned as CEO to "allow him to step back from operating responsibilities to focus his efforts on working with field sales leaders to transition to Mannatech's new global wellness sales program."

The press release didn't even mention the Texas Attorney General's investigation that has pummeled the stock of late -- a pretty brazen case of corporate spin. Even if Caster really is resigning to work with field sales leaders, isn't that indicative that the company is facing pretty serious problems? And remember, Mannatech's army of associates is its bread and butter. If that's in disarray (it is), the whole company is a train-wreck (it is).

So how did the stock respond? It was up more than 3% on Wednesday, and continued to rise on Thursday.

My personal response to this, which was not posted.

I don’t know if calling your readers stupid is such a good idea. Maybe its stupid to not buy the stock when it is at this low.

I understand the CEO of the company has resigned to focus his efforts in assisting field sales leaders. Remember, he is the founder of the company. So he is going to do whatever it takes to make things run as smooth as possible. It’s like that saying- if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. How much of a difference do you think his undivided attention to this will help the company? I’m sure it will help in an amazing way, as experts have taken this into consideration. So of course the stock was up and continued to rise. We’ll see what happens from here. Is stupidity alive and well as you state?

And by the way. The “army of Associates” is not in disarray. All of this has actually strengthened it like you would not believe. Contrary to what you may believe, the whole company IS NOT a train wreck.

It’s so interesting to see the outside perspective compared to what is really going on. It basically brings into light the sheer ignorance of those (followers) that believe everything on the internet and the distinct few who actually investigate behind the scenes. Of course there are a select few that know what is really going on. It is just a matter of time before one brave journalist comes into light with the truth to expose the big tyrants out to shut down MTEX.

The case above demonstrates the position the pharmaceuticals have established for themselves in anything to do with health. Preventive nutrition and natural remedies to help the body ward off illness have been around since the beginning of time, as use of these regimens are becoming more and more common. NewScientist Article: "Sugar supplement may treat immune disease"

NewScientist Magazine had a recent article on how a "sugar supplement may sweeten the overactive immune cells responsible for autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and type 1 diabetes and stop them attacking the body's tissues."

Hmmm... this is a very novel approach. You think? Actually providing a direct source of necessary sugars available to cells in quicker and greater quantities. I mean really, this is an entirely different approach of supporting and sustaining health and wellness instead of fighting disease. But wait isn't there a company that has already thought of and developed this- say- over ten years ago?

Angie Rhoads- Deceived By ABC's 20/20

Many of you watched the distorted feature story on 20/20 about Glyconutrients on Friday June 1st. You may already know that the CEO of the Global Leading Company in Glyconutritionals was interviewed and deceived with what aired. There was also another person used in their tabloid media tactics.

Angie Rhoads, with stage III cancer in her brain, was interviewed. Angie had refused traditional therapies of radiation, chemo and drugs. Instead she chose to take Glyconutritional supplements. On the air 20/20 stated there was no change with the cancer brain scan since starting the Glyconutritional products. The reality is that Angie was cancer free at the time of filming. "No change" actually meant there was no cancer since the last scan. Why did 20/20 decide to leave out this information from the story?

Tabloid T.V. at its best is all I can say. A real tragedy for what I used to consider a reputable broadcast show. Now, I personally view the program is as reputable as one of those tabloid magazines you see at a grocery store checkout. Really..... How could you not? Think about this; How many other stories have they done that were manipulated to tell the story they wanted the public to percieve? Makes you wonder doesn't it?

You know what's kind of funny? I actually feel embarrassed for them (20/20). It's like they gave the story to some desperate media student looking for exposure. You have to wonder how many other programs like 20/20 do the exact same thing. Why? For ratings? A great story? What a shame...

20/20 Does a Number on Glyconutritionals

As many of you are already aware. 20/20 did a feature story on the Leading Company in Glyconutritionals on Friday June 1st. It was tabloid TV at its finest. I for one am amazed at how this so called report is biased, twisted, and absolutely wrong. How it could be passed off as news raises a brow at the credibility their other stories may have. Aren't these type of stories suppose to show both sides instead of these distorted-edited one-sided versions of what they would like everyone to believe? Makes you wonder how much of a hand they have in carrying out the drug companies' agenda, or is it just a coincidence?

In the interview 'Jim' desperately tries to get the CEO to say something damaging, as 'Jim' repeatedly asks if the product cures cancer. How many times did he have to be told "nutrients don't cure anything." Of course the edited-version of the interview did not show any of this. It merely shows a few strategically placed clips of the interview. It's very clear that 20/20 was out to get the Company behind Ambrotose in the way they manipulated the story. It is a shame really that broadcast media resorts to such practices in their quest for a "good story." What a disappointment.

Glyconutritional Company on 20/20

I believe the upcoming Glyconutrients feature on ABC's 20/20 will be negative. As usual it will be perceived as "one of those multi-marketing schemes" making outrageous claims on a "wonder tonic."

There are quite a few inexperienced independent distributors that get carried away, or don't know the rules and regulations. In defense of MLM companies, the majority of independent distributors are aware and educate their reps to enforce that Glyconutrients do not treat or cure any medical conditions. But there are those that are not aware or do not make an assertive effort, and predicatively those are the ones 20/20 will do the report on.

In the four minute video teaser of the upcoming segment on the 20/20 web site, a young girl is interviewed who had a large tumor removed from her brain, but who is now refusing all traditional medical treatments in lieu of glyconutritional products. She confidently believes it will cure cancer. There is also, of course, the obligatory "hidden camera" footage of distributors at opportunity meetings...

Nobody Cares...

In my quest to share the discovery of Glyconutrients with the rest of the world my sister recently said to me- "Nobody Cares!"

Don't get me wrong. My sister is fully aware of the benefits of glyconutrients, as she is a consumer of the products, and knows all too well the support they provide in personal health and wellness. To say she has had positive personal experiences with glyconutritionals would be an understatement.

My sister has seen the time I've invested in researching the journals, publications, and product knowledge to share the knowledge with others. She thinks there is too much negativity, skeptics and nay-sayers...

"Nobody Cares!"

Now I ask you. How is one to feel when your own sister, a smart independent registered nurse, shoots you off your horse like that? I was actually surprised at first. I mean, she is a nurse afterall, right? Why doesn't she "get it?" Wouldn't it make sense for someone in her line of work to want to share the knowledge of glyconutrients with others to better their quality of life?

Really, think about it. If the entire planet was "open" to learn about this, how much of a difference could this make on a Global scale?

I keep hearing my sister's voice in my head. "Nobody Cares!"

I suppose I could give in and succomb to the pharmaceutical giants' control of the "sickness business" and be influenced by one of those happy-flowery drug commercials I see on tv. Wait a minute. Toward An Early Diagnostic Test For Ovarian Cancer

In an advance toward eventual development of a much-needed early diagnostic test for ovarian cancer, scientists have identified at least 15 biomarkers for the disease that are present in cancer patients but absent in healthy individuals. Carlito B. Lebrilla and colleagues at the University of California at Davis describe the discovery in a report scheduled for the July 7 issue of the ACS Journal of Proteome Research.

No accurate test for early diagnosis of ovarian cancer currently exists. Many of the 23,000 annual cases are diagnosed only after the disease is advanced and more difficult to treat. Lebrilla's group identified the biomarkers -- which could become the basis of a test -- with an exciting new technology spawned by the human genome project. Called glycomics, it focuses on the structure and function of chains of sugars or "oligosaccharides" that have key functions in the body.

The scientists identified and studied oligosaccharides in substances that ovarian cancer cells shed during growth. Some had never been detected before. Researchers now are moving ahead with studies involving more patients and controls in an effort to find biomarkers that could be used in an ovarian cancer test.

Indiana University Set Up Sugar Center

Indiana University researchers will develop a new center to investigate sugar's role in such health issues as alcoholism and cancer, with the help of $3.2 million from the National Institutes of Health.

IU Bloomington chemist Milos Novotny and colleagues in the Department of Chemistry, School of Medicine and School of Informatics will establish the National Center for Glycomics and Glycoproteomics.

Many of Novotny's current research projects involve the attachment of sugars to large molecules inside the human body. The sugar chains serve several functions. Among them are acting as "tags" to put the body's immune system at ease and playing a role in alcoholism and some types of cancer.

Glycomics is the general study of these sugar chains. Glycoproteomics examines differences in the way the sugar chains are attached to proteins.

Staff at the center will create new technologies to improve the ability of scientists to investigate biological sugars, leading to a better understanding of sugar biology. Staff also will handle investigations of glycoprotein markers associated with cancer and alcoholism, endocrinology-center studies including fertilization, and comparative research about plants and animals.

Hello everyone! First of all I want to apologize for not blogging in quite a while. It seems I have been contacted by the compliance department of a certain Glyconutritional Company about this blog- which I have been posting since November of 2003. If you were looking for a particular blog from the past- it is most likely that I have deleted it. (I've deleted about 90% of the postings). Apparrently I cannot mention the name of the company or publish any information that is announced from other sources such as Yahoo Finance or any other source. So much for freedom of speech eh... I suppose this is because I am an Associate. But this is a blog isn't it? Does this make sense to anyone out there? Aren't I able to basically blog about just about anything? There are blogs out there about sex, dolls, movies, exercise, coffee cups, eyewear, and every other insignificant topic you can imagine.

One day I decided to blog about something I really believed in- something I want the whole world to know about- something I believe will enhance and even advance human health. At last! PURPOSE! I've felt good about all the energy I've put into this blog! I've even been contacted by many fellow associates thanking me. And now I've been told to I have to delete this blog in its entirety. Cholesterol-Reducing Flavonoids Found in Citrus Peels

CODEX/Pharma-Friendly Legislative Assault Threatens US Health Freedom: Nutrient 'Adverse Event Reporting' Distorts Supplement Safety

Are Pharma-friendly Congressmen introducing bills clearing the path for harmonization with pro-illness provisions in CODEX by making supplements unavailable either directly or by stealth?

The remarkable safety of inexpensive and effective supplements is a direct market threat to dangerous and expensive drugs. Four bills and an amendment designed to end Americans' access to nutrients and supplements have been introduced into Congress.

Rima E. Laibow, MD, Medical Director of the pro-health freedom Natural Solutions Foundation notes that "The continuing corporate assault on natural medicine choices has taken a dangerous twist via coordinated legislative attacks in Congress on American's right to make natural health choices. Americans use nutritional supplements in chronic degenerative diseases like cancer and cardiovascular disease. Once the DSHEA's protection is removed, there will be no barrier left to harmonization with CODEX standards like the recently ratified Vitamin and Mineral Guideline.

Davis' bill explicitly gives the FDA power to remove nutrients from the market if there is a theoretical risk even if no harm has ever been associated with the item. No such reporting requirement exists for drugs, including deadly ones like Vioxx (which the FDA blames for 55,000-188,000 American deaths), despite drug toxicity and dangers.

Laws that protect access to nutrition, like DSHEA, undercut pharmaceutical profits. Dietary supplements have an astonishing safety record: there are no deaths conclusively associated with any supplement despite hundreds of millions of doses while complications associated with even "properly used" pharmaceuticals are the fourth leading cause of death in the US while pharmaceutical "medical misadventure" causes more U.S. deaths than heart disease, the number 1 disease-related killer. Big Pharma's nearly $800 million Congressional lobbying investment has apparently bought enough friends to create this legislative assault on natural health choices. An experiment of over ten years was carried out several decades ago by a Dr. Francis Marion Pottenger. His interest was the effects of diet on laboratory animals- cats. He chose to study the effects of raw versus cooked diet. He fed half of the cats raw meat and raw milk, and the other half were fed cooked meat and pasteurized milk. Rapid deterioration was observed in the group that was fed cooked meat and milk, whereas the other group continued to flourish. Evidence of problems in the first cooked-diet group were in reproduction, such as miscarriages. The mothering behavior began to deteriorate, along with the coat becoming dull and rough. By the second generation the kittens in the cooked-group were so vicious they had to be handled with protective equipment. Does this sound like something children are experiencing today (ADD and ADHD come to mind.)? Next, skeletal melformations began to show, and by the third generation cats were unable to reproduce and died.

The experiment shows the powerful effects of diet in generations to follow. Makes you wonder if we, or generations to follow, may be guinea pigs in a mass scale experiment of a highly industrialized living? Is our present civilization already a part of Pottenger's experiment?

Aloe Vera Expert Visits Uganda

One of the scientists who discovered the nutritional value of aloe vera is in Uganda. The scientist met with health minister Jim Muhwezi at the ministry headquarters in Kampala on Friday.

The scientist is famous for the discovery of sugar molecules in aloe vera, which improve immunity. His discovery led to the development of the world-famous nutrients known as glyconutrients. Muhwezi said Uganda was endowed with a diversity of plants, which could be helpful in the fight against diseases.

The multiple sclerosis market is estimated to be worth around $4 billion, notes Dukler.

Dear Reader,

Q: When is sugar a good thing?
A: When it's a glyconutrient.

On the HSI Forum, a member who identifies himself as "b5" asks:
"Please explain what glyconutrients are and why I would need
them?"

The short answer to b5's question is simple: Glyconutrients are
natural sugar compounds, essential for maintaining good health.
The longer answer reveals a fascinating field of nutrition that
the MIT Technology Review called one of the ten emerging
technologies that will change the world.

SUGAR COATED

Research over the past decade has demonstrated the importance of
essential fatty acids and essential proteins (amino acids). Now
scientists and nutritionists are just beginning to understand
that there are essential sugars as well. Eight essential sugar
compounds function individually as building blocks to assemble a
nearly infinite variety of complex molecules known as glycans or
sugar chains.

In an article in the February 2004 HSI Members Alert,
contributing writer Jennifer Arnold noted that there are two key
ways that glyconutrients impact our health:

1) "These sugars can prevent viruses and bacteria from adhering
to cells by taking up all their receptor sites. If the virus or
bacteria can't bind to a cell, they can't make you sick; it's as
simple as that. Turns out other sugar chains can work in similar
ways to bind up all sorts of viruses and bacteria in other parts
of the body."

2) "There's another more complex role that these sugar chains
play in the body. Glycans form a sugar coat around every single
cell in the body, as well as filling up the spaces in between
cells. They act as a sort of information super highway for the
body, regulating communication both within the cell and between
that cell and other cells."

Sugar chains play a vital role in nearly every physiological
process, including immune system response, tissue regeneration
and cell replication. One of the most important functions of
glycans is the facilitation of brain functions. For instance,
serotonin and other neurotransmitters require glycan receptors
in order to bind to the surface of nerve cells. Memory, stress
response and other critical brain functions may become
debilitated without the adequate assistance of glyconutrient
sugar chains.

THE SOURCE

If you eat a diet rich in unprocessed fruits and vegetables,
you're supplying your body with many glyconutrients. But just
because they're sugars doesn't mean they taste sweet. For
instance: Fucose, xylose and mannose are three of the eight
essential sugar compounds. Mushrooms and seeds contain fucose;
rye, barley and yeast contain xylose; and mannose can be found
in broccoli, cabbage and seeds.

Problems arise when any of the foods mentioned above are highly
processed. For instance, grapes and onions deliver glucose, one
of the eight glyconutrients. But when glucose is processed into
table sugar, nutrients and fiber are completely stripped away,
transforming it from good nutrition into something that can
compromise your health.

So the absence of unprocessed glyconutrients in the average diet
is a concern. As HSI Medical Advisor, Martin Milner, N.D.,
stated in the February Members Alert, "We are finding
glyconutrient deficiencies associated with a large range of
diseases."

COLLECT ALL 8

Of the eight basic glyconutrients, most diets only deliver
sufficient amounts of two: glucose and galactose (a milk sugar).
Trace amounts of the other six are picked up here and there, but
modern agricultural methods, food processing and chemical
contamination have all but erased them from our food supply.

In recent years, research has shown that supplementary
glyconutrients may improve cellular communication, with a
positive impact on a wide range of conditions; from skin aging
and bacterial infection to debilitating illnesses like muscular
dystrophy, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's
disease.

In his private practice, Dr. Milner has begun using a
glyconutritional supplement that provides all eight essential
sugar compounds. The supplement is called Ambrotose, and it's

FDA Approves Omega Fish Oils Health Claims

As per Paul Zane Pilzer, world renowned economist, a 'Wellness Revolution' is occurring that will dramatically change world health as well as global economy. This 'Revolution' will occur within the next decade with cutting edge technologies, discoveries, and scientific validation on natural effective health alternatives. About omega fatty acids:
These fatty acids found in cold water fish like salmon; are one reason the fish do not freeze up in such arctic temperatures. A few perks of adding the fish oils to the diet are- they enhance endocrine function (hormone regulation), enhance metabolism, and reduce the risk of heart disease. There are more benefits. FDA Will Allow Health Claims On Fish – Fat Acids

WASHINGTON – The Food and Drug Administration will allow fish and other foods containing omega-3 fatty acids – a rising star in the nutrition world found mostly in cold-water fish such as salmon – to carry labels saying the products reduce the risk of heart disease.

The FDA’s green light creates a marketing opportunity for fish as well as for health foods fortified with the fatty acids.

The agency’s decision marks only the second time that the FDA, which is reluctant to back health claims without a consensus in the scientific community, has approved a “qualified” health claim for a food. Such a claim is one for which the data are supportive but not conclusive.

Companies selling the products with omega-3 fatty acids will be permitted to display the following claim on packages: “Supportive but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.” Manufacturers will be required to tell consumers how many grams of eiscosapentaenoic acid, or EPA, and docosahexaenoic acid, or DHA, the foods contain.

Manufacturers are eager to market products containing the fatty acids. Martek Biosciences Corp., a Columbia, Md.-based manufacturer of one of the omega-3 fatty acids for the nutritional supplement industry, petitioned the FDA to approve the health claim. Other companies such as global food giant Kraft Foods Inc., also urged the FDA action.

New Concept- Hospitals Using Nutrition for Wellness?

Wouldn't it be awesome if a hospital had to actually use proper nutrition?
